Filming Taking the Biscuity by Margaret Crump, 4 August 2006

Extras for Southwest Shorts short film
We are shooting both winners in our recent Southwest Shorts short film script competition next week and need eight ‘supporting artists’ to appear in Margaret Crump’s film, David and Goliath: An Urban Myth [eventually retitled Taking the Biscuit], on the morning of Friday, 4 August. If you think you’ve got it in you to play ‘passenger on a train’ and are free for a railway journey a week on Friday, please let us know.

MA Media (Screenwriting) at the University of the West of England
There’s still time to apply for the MA Media (Screenwriting) at the University of the West of England, Bristol, which starts at the end of September. This is a course for writers who want to specialise in drama — live action or animation, for film, television or interactive platforms. Learn how to pitch ideas to industry and present your work professionally. The course provides support in terms of a structured developmental process, and tutorial and seminar group advice and feedback. Students also learn how to critique scripts and write script reports.

The course leaders are looking for highly motivated students with skill in creative writing. You should have word processing skills or be prepared to gain such skills prior to the start of the programme. Applicants will be asked to include ten pages of script with their application. This may be for screen, theatre or radio and may be an excerpt or a complete short piece. All applications are carefully considered and prospective candidates are invited for interview.

Two current students are holders of a South West Screen study bursary.

The MA Media also includes strands in Animation, Interactive Media, Video Arts and Graphic Arts.
