A reading of Ann and Lesley’s radio comedy — soon to be broadcast on Oneword Radio (see below) — about two couples who are old friends but who haven’t seen each other for some time; all have their own aspirations which are realised by the end of the play — but not in the way any of them anticipated.

Andy Burden, who runs the Rondo Theatre in Bath, is running a workshop for group members this evening on the theme of writers working with actors and directors.

A reading of Bob Fannin’s script of intertwining monologues featuring two old women, one German, one Bristolian, and the daughter of one of them — on the concept of ‘home’.

An experimental piece written over just ten evenings, featuring three characters discussing the life of one of them. Definitely out of the ordinary!

Brian’s detective drama scores on Radio 4
Southwest Scriptwriter Brian Thompson’s detective drama, Trueman, will be broadcast on Radio 4 at 2.15pm on 17 April. The project was originally commissioned for BBC1 but, after falling foul of drama head, Mal Young, looked unlikely to be realised until Brian heard Radio 4 were looking for a modern detective drama.
Three shows from Steve
Steve Hennessy’s tense (and highly recommended) metaphysical thriller, The Power of Speech, ends it run at the Alma Tavern on 9 March. His radio play, I Want to Marry a Lighthouse Keeper, first read out at a Southwest Scriptwriters meeting, is to be broadcast on Irish national radio, RTE, later this year. His play, The Tragickall Medickall Historie of William Shakespeare, Bard of Bedlam, will run at the Tobacco Factory from 1 to 5 May.
