We’re back at Bristol Old Vic, King Street, Bristol, BS1 4ED on Tuesday, 18 July, for the second of our new monthly meetings.

Sign in at the Stage Door entrance to the theatre complex off Queen Charlotte Street — see the map below for directions. Everyone attending meetings pays £2.

We have meetings confirmed until September as follows. We may need to change where we’re meeting in the theatre oomplex at short notice, but will keep the listing on our What’s on page up to date, so please check this for cofirmation of the meeting room:

Tuesday, 18 July at 8pm: Open Workshop

Tonight’s meeting in the Clore Learning Studio features short scripts by Brian Weaving, Chris Worthington and (if there’s enough time) Jamie Hughes.

Chris’ play, Do the Biz, is a comedy satire about starting a business and business networking. Things don’t quite work out commercially for six entrepreneurs, but there are fringe benefits on offer as they become involved with each other…

Chris would welcome some tips on how to get a play produced, so do come equipped with your secrets for stage success!

Tuesday, 22 August at 8pm: Open Workshop

We’re scouting for material for our first ever meeting in August (which is in the Clore Learning Studio at the time of going to press). Email via our ‘Book a workshop slot’ form to be sure of a slot for your work to be read.

Tuesday, 19 September at 8pm: Stocking Fillers by Scott Wilson

We’re starting autumn with a look ahead to the festive season in Bristol Old Vic’s Rehearsal Room with a complete reading of Scott’s screenplay.

Retreat to Cheltenham

Writers’ HQ is running a monthly caffeine-fuelled, procrastination-busting writers’ retreat at the FSFW co-working space in Cheltenham.

£35 buys you six hours peace to pursue your writing project with encouragement, constant coffee and biscuits, and lunch.

Short story writer Alex Clark hosts the Cheltenham retreats, and the next one is from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, 19 August.
