Verity Bargate Award
Soho Theatre has announced its biennial search for the most exciting and original new play. The writer of the winning entry will receive £5000 (in respect of an exclusive option), a residency at Soho Theatre, and the chance to have their play produced at the theatre. The deadline for entries is 6 July 2007 and you can find further information on the Soho Theatre website.
The Cupboard Beneath the Stairs by Mark Breckon
Mark’s 15-minute sci-fi drama, first broadcast as part of BBC7’s Fresh Blood series last year, was repeated on the digital station last Friday, 9 March. You can hear the play until Thursday through BBC7’s Listen Again facility — ‘It’s space travel, Jim, but not as we know it.’
Baby Boom by Ray Brooking
Ray’s first original TV play, Baby Boom, is broadcast on BBC1 at 2.05pm this Friday, 16 March.
