Our October online outing is this Wednesday, 21st, when we’re reconvening on Zoom to feedback on more new writing.

Wednesday, 21 October at 7.30pm on Zoom: The Cray Method by Taylor Ayling

Tonight’s meeting features a reading pf Taylor’s full-length stage play about a prominent relationship therapist, who, on the verge of delivering a lecture on her breakthrough counselling method, has her entire outlook challenged by a lone client.

Wednesday, 25 November at 7.30pm on Zoom: Open Workshop

We’ve been very happy to present readings of full-length play scripts at our Zoom meetings to date, but our workshop sessions aren’t all about work-in-progress at such an advanced stage. We’d also like to hear your unfinished extracts, ideas or pitches. And please remember that we don’t just do theatre — we also welcome screen, TV, radio and multimedia work. Use our ‘Book a workshop slot’ form to let us know if you have anything to share next month.

Theatre West Zoom Ahead with South West women writers

Theatre West Zooming Ahead

Theatre West is countering the COVID-19 gloom with a company-funded development project for women writers in the South West.

Zooming Ahead will offer ten script development packages to help bring new plays to production-standard drafts ready for when theatres are able to reopen. The packages include support from a professional dramaturg plus three readings of the developing script on Zoom, the last of which will be before an invited online audience.

Plays should suit studio theatre presentation with a running time of around an hour and with a cast of no more than three actors. The company is looking for scripts that give voice to new and challenging stories.

Theatre West will deliver Zooming Ahead in five submission windows between now and February.
